US personal income increased by 0.2% from the previous month to $24.015 trillion in August of 2024, following a 0.3% rise in the previous month and below market forecasts of a 0.4% rise. Compensation of employees rose by 0.5%, up from 0.3% in July, as wages and salaries (0.5% vs 0.3%) and supplements to wages and salaries (0.5% vs 0.4%) grew further. Meanwhile, personal income receipts on assets fell by 0.5%, the same as in the previous month, as personal interest income (-0.6%, the same as in July), anddividend income (-0.4% vs -0.3%) shrank. Additionally, personal current transfer grew less (0.1% vs 0.4%) and contributions for government social insurance rose by 0.4%, up from a 0.3% increase in July.
