North Macedonia’s trade deficit shrank to $213.7 million in September 2024 from $224.9 million in the respective month of the previous year, marking the lowest deficit since February 2023, as exports fell 5.6% to $745 million and imports fell 5.4% to $959 million. During the period January-September 2024, exports fell 5.7% year-on-year to $6.37 billion, driven by lower sales of mineral fuels & lubricants (-24.9%), chemical products (-19%) and manufactured goods (-4.5%). Meanwhile, imports fell 0.2% to 8.92 billion, led by less purchases of crude materials exc. fuels (-14.4%) and mineral fuels & lubricants (-13.5%).
