The unemployment rate in Georgia dropped to 13.7% in the second quarter of 2024, from 16.7% in the same period last year, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 47.2 thousand to 219.7 thousand. The jobless rate for men was down to 15.9% (vs 18.5% in Q2 2023) while that for women also fell to 10.9% (vs 14.5%). Meanwhile, the employment rate increased to 47% in the June quarter from 44.3% a year ago, with the number of employed persons rising by 60.5 thousand to 1,387.8 thousand. The labor force participation rate rose to 54.5% from 53.2% in the previous year.
