Colombia's trade deficit widened to USD 1.279 billion in January 2025, up from a USD 1.084 billion deficit in the same month last year. The increase was driven by imports rising faster than exports. Imports rose by 8.5% year-on-year to USD 5.379 billion, marking the seventh consecutive month of increases led by higher purchases of manufactured products (7.1%). Meanwhile, exports rose by 4.3% year-on-year to USD 3.777 billion, primarily led by a 42.5% surge in shipments from agricultural products, food, and beverages.
