Construction spending in the United States rose by 0.1% month-over-month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2,148.8 billion in September 2024, slightly exceeding forecasts that anticipated no growth. Private spending was flat in the period, with the residential segment up by 0.2% and the non-residential one falling by 0.1%. On the other hand, public spending increased by 0.5%, driven by a 2.3% rise in the residential segment and, to a lesser extent, a 0.4% increase in the non-residential segment. Yearly, construction spending grew by 4.6% in September.
