Peru’s central bank kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 4.75% in March 2025, holding steady for the second straight month. The decision follows a slowdown in headline inflation, which eased to 1.5% in February from 1.9% in January, driven by declining food prices. Core inflation also moderated, falling from 2.4% to 2.1%, aligning closely with the central bank’s target range. Additionally, inflation expectations for the year ahead dipped to 2.28% in February from 2.37% in the previous month. The central bank highlighted that recent economic activity indicators suggest stronger growth. Looking ahead, policymakers emphasized that any future rate adjustments will be guided by upcoming inflation and economic data.
