The consumer confidence indicator in the Netherlands declined to -37 in April 2025, down from -34 in the previous month, remaining well below its twenty-year average of -10. This marked the lowest reading since October 2023, as consumers became more pessimistic about the general economic outlook—both for the past 12 months (-64 vs -59) and the next 12 months (-59 vs -55). Views on household finances also deteriorated for both the past 12 months (-18 vs -16) and the year ahead (-8 vs -6). At the same time, both the economic climate sub-index (-61 vs -57) and consumer willingness to spend (-20 vs -18) weakened. Meanwhile, perceptions regarding the timing for major purchases remained unchanged at -34.
