Moldova posted a trade deficit of USD 556.6 million in August 2025, widening from USD 463.3 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. Year-on-year, exports advanced by 22% to USD 332.6 million, driven by higher shipments to EU (29.8%), CIS (5.4%), and other countries (2.9%). Meanwhile, imports climbed by 20.8% to USD 889.2 million, with purchases rising from EU (26.7%) and other countries (16.7%), while arrivals declined from CIS countries (-1.6%). Considering the January to August period, the country’s trade shortfall expanded to USD 4,631.1 million, compared to USD 3,502.5 million in the same month a year earlier.
