Japan Machine Tool Orders

Japan's machine tool orders rose 4.7% year-on-year to JPY 116,146 million in January 2025, slowing from an 11.2% gain in December 2024. Still, this marked the fourth consecutive month of rising machine tool orders, as foreign demand grew by 4.7% to JPY 84,151 million, while domestic orders increased by 4.5% to JPY 31,995 million. On a monthly basis, machine tool orders fell by 18.8% in January, reversing from a 18.4% gain in the previous month.
