Iceland’s trade deficit widened to ISK 53.4 billion in April 2025 from ISK 46.7 billion in the same month last year. Imports rose by 13% year-on-year to ISK 135.7 billion, driven by the surge in purchases of capital goods (+46%), industrial supplies (+19%), and food & beverages (+13%). Meanwhile, exports also increased by 13% from a year earlier to ISK 82.3 billion, supported by higher supplies of marine products (+23%), and manufacturing products (+8%). For the last twelve months, Iceland's trade deficit increased to ISK 437.2 billion from ISK 397.5 billion in the the previous period.
