Finland recorded a trade surplus of EUR 0.29 billion in September 2024, the same figure from the corresponding month of the previous year, preliminary estimates showed. Exports advanced by 1.7% year-on-year to a three-month high of EUR 6.5 billion, supported by higher sales to non-EU countries (7.3%), while shipments continued to decline to EU countries (-2.6%). Among trading partners, exports increased mainly to Germany (6.3%), Netherlands (10.5%), and the United Kingdom (56.8%). Meanwhile, imports rose by 1.7% to EUR 6.21 billion, driven by increased purchases from non-EU countries (4.5%), while arrivals dropped for EU countries (-0.2%). Imports grew mostly from Germany (5.8%), US (0.2%), China (23.8%), United Kingdom (6.1%), and Poland (8.2%). For the first nine months of the year, the country’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 1.5 billion from EUR 1.6 billion in the same period of last year.
