Finland’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 0.11 billion in December 2024 from EUR 0.52 billion from the corresponding month of the previous year, preliminary estimates showed. Imports dropped by 1.6% year-on-year to EUR 6.13 billion, due to reduced purchases from non-EU (-9.7%) although it improved for EU countries (5.5%). Imports fell mostly from United Kingdom (-37.1%), China (-25.5%), Switzerland (-14.0%), and Sweden (-8.5%). Meanwhile, exports increased by 5.5% to EUR 6.02 billion, boosted by sales to EU (7.2%) and non-EU countries (3.1%). Among trading partners, exports improved mainly to Latvia (207.7%), US (36.0%), Sweden (27.6%), and Canada (24.5%). For the whole year of 2024, the country recorded a trade deficit of EUR 2.12 billion.
