Eurozone Einzelhandelsumsatz m/m

The volume of retail trade in the Euro Area declined by 0.2% month-over-month in December 2024, following a flat reading in November and missing market expectations of a 0.1% drop. Sales of food, drinks, and tobacco fell by 0.7%, deepening from a 0.1% decline in the previous month. Meanwhile, non-food product sales rebounded by 0.3% after two consecutive months of contraction, and fuel sales edged up 0.2%, following a 0.7% increase in November. Among the bloc’s largest economies, sharp declines in Germany (-1.6%), France (-0.2%), and the Netherlands (-0.2%) outweighed gains in Spain (1.4%) and Italy (0.3%).
