The consumer confidence indicator in the Euro Area rose by 0.4 points from the previous month to -12.5 in October 2024, the best reading since February 2022, in line with preliminary estimates. However, it remains below its long-term average. In the European Union, sentiment increased by 0.5 points to -11.2, reaching its long-term average for the first time since February 2022. This improvement was fueled by consumers' enhanced views of their household financial situations, both in the past and looking ahead. However, consumers' expectations regarding the overall economic conditions in their country and their intentions to make significant purchases remained largely stable.
