Ägypten Verbraucherpreise

The annual urban inflation rate in Egypt accelerated to 13.6% in March 2025, up from 12.8% in February, faster than expectations of a 12.6% rise. It marked the first acceleration in inflation in five months, with food prices rising to 6.6% from the lowest level since May 2021 of 3.7% in February. Also, prices quickened for housing and utilities (13.0% vs 12.9%) and clothing and footwear (23.0% vs 22.7%). Prices moderated for transport (33.9% vs 34.3%), furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance (15.6% vs 16.6%), communications (12.4% vs 12.5%), recreation and culture (19.7% vs 22.0%), restaurants and hotels (15.0% vs 17.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (15.0% vs 15.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (25.0% vs 25.4%). On a monthly basis, CPI increased by 1.6% in March 2025, the most in six months, accelerating from a 1.4% gain in February.
