Ecuador's trade surplus expanded to USD 527.54 million in July 2024 from a surplus of USD 82.63 million in the corresponding month of 2023, marking the eighth consecutive monthly surplus, driven by climbing exports and declining imports. Exports surged by 7.3% year-on-year to USD 2,754.79 million, led by higher shipments of primary goods (13.1%), particularly cacao (124.8%), and industrial goods increased (18.04%). Meanwhile, imports fell by 3.51% to USD 2,397.65 million, attributed to reduced purchases of consumer goods (-9.39%), and capital goods (-3.27%).
