China’s foreign exchange reserves rose to $3.22 trillion in February 2025 from $3.209 trillion in January and roughly in line with forecasts. The yuan appreciated 0.5% against the dollar in February, while the dollar weakened 0.9% against a basket of other major currencies. Meanwhile, gold reserves went up for a fourth consecutive month to 73.61 million fine troy ounces, above 73.45 million in the previous month. Their value jumped to $208.64 billion from $206.53 billion, in line with a surge in gold prices.
