Chile recorded a trade surplus of $3,376 million in January 2025, up from $2,850 million in the corresponding period of the previous year and overshooting market forecasts of $2,620 million. This was the widest trade surplus since available records began in January 1991, as exports jumped by 10.4% to an all-time high of $10,43 million, buoyed by shipments of mining products (+13.5%), largely copper (+15.8%). Exports also increased for agriculture, forestry & fishing (+14.8%) and manufactured products (+2.2%). Meanwhile, imports rose by 8.3% to $7,054 million, on higher purchases of consumer goods (+12-8%), intermediate goods (+4.1%) and capital goods (+17.5%).
