Employment in Australia jumped by 64.1 thousand to a record peak of 14.52 million in September 2024, easily exceeding market forecasts of a 25 thousand gain and following a downwardly revised 42.6 thousand rise in the previous month. Full-time employment surged by 51.6 thousand, a strong reversal from a fall of 5.9 thousand in August. However, part-time employment added 12.5 thousand, down sharply from August's 48.5 thousand. Through the year to September, employment increased by 434.9 thousand or 3.1%.
